Accessing Windows 365 Cloud PCs

Purpose

This SOP outlines the process for accessing Windows 365 Cloud PCs for both Windows and Mac users. It ensures that users can securely connect to their Cloud PC while following best practices for authentication and display settings.

Scope

This procedure applies to all organizations utilizing Compliance-as-a-Service and includes actions for both the Organization seeking certification (OSC) and the External Service Provider (ESP).


Section 1: Organization seeking certification (OSC) Steps

Step 1: Install the Required Application

  • For Windows Users:
    • Download and install the Windows App from the Microsoft Store.
  • For Mac Users:
    • Download and install the Microsoft Remote Desktop or Windows 365 App from the Mac App Store.

Step 2: Connect to the Cloud PC

  • For Windows Users:
    • Open the Windows App.
    • Sign in using Azure credentials.
    • Select Connect next to the listed Cloud PC.
  • For Mac Users:

Step 3: Adjust Display Settings

  • Hover over the listed Cloud PC.
  • Click the three ellipses (⋮).
  • Select Settings to adjust display options as needed.

Section 2: External Service Provider (ESP) IT Team Steps

Prerequisites

  • Ensure the user has been provisioned with a Windows 365 Cloud PC.
  • Confirm that the user’s account is active and has the necessary permissions.
  • Provide users with the appropriate Azure credentials for sign-in.

Configuring User Access

  1. Verify that the user has installed the required application:
    • Windows Users: Windows App.
    • Mac Users: Microsoft Remote Desktop or Windows 365 App.
  2. Provide users with the correct Workspace URL for their environment.
  3. If the user experiences connection issues:
    • Ensure the user’s Cloud PC is assigned and active.
    • Verify network and firewall settings allow outbound connections to Microsoft endpoints.
    • Confirm that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is completed if required.

Monitoring and Compliance

  • Regularly review user access logs to identify unauthorized attempts.
  • Conduct periodic audits of assigned Cloud PCs and adjust permissions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies by enforcing MFA and conditional access policies.

Review & Maintenance

This SOP will be reviewed on a quarterly basis or as required by changes in compliance regulations or Microsoft cloud services.
